INNER LINE PERMIT
Ladakh is most visited because of Khardung La Pass, Nubra Valley and, Pangong Tso Lake. To visit these places it is mandatory to obtain the Inner line permit for all the tourists to enter special zones in Ladakh. To get the permit, visit DC’s office as early as you can otherwise you will be stuck in the queue. You need to carry a passport size photograph along with a Government ID proof and the timing to get the permit is between 9 AM to 5 PM (Monday to Saturday).
You can also get the permit online through https://wwwlahdclehpermit.in/, however, you would need to visit the DC’s office, once you reach the land of high passes, to get verified by the Government. So I found no use to apply for the permit online.

PERMIT FOR ROHTANG PASS
If you are traveling from the Manali- Leh highway route then first you have to take the permit to cross the Rohtang Pass. No need to worry, just keep remembering a few things in mind. You can also apply for the permit online through https://wwwrohtangpermits.nic.in/ for the next 6 days. To cross Rohtang Pass, choose “Beyond Rohtang Pass” on the website, follow the instructions and you will get the permit and, the window remains open from 12 noon to 12 midnight.
Also, you can get the permit by directly visiting the SDM office in Manali from 10 AM to 5 PM. You need to submit the photocopy of vehicle’s pollution under control certificate, registration certificate, and your driving license for document verification. Most Importantly, the office remains close on Tuesday so plan your trip accordingly.
